Each valleys have a few small houses, some of them are along the river and some are in the green fields. What is it like living here?? I'm so curious. One day, I would like to visit people living here.

This mountain range is formed by a huge granite and you see a lot of huge stones lying everywhere. However, it's not only rocks you see but also diverse nature as well. There are waterfalls, lakes, rivers and beautiful forests and you never get bored on you journey with the magnificent views.

'Serra da Estrela dog' It's one of the Portuguese breeds and originated in the Serra da Estrela. They are livestock guarding dog. Usually, they live in the area and some souvenir shops are selling the puppies.
Views from a hotel. I was lucky to have some specutacular views from our room. It felt like the hotel was floating above the clouds.
There are quite a few places to stay in the Serra de Estrela. It's busy especially in Summer but Autumn and Winter would be also good seasons to visit the mountain if you want to spend rather calm and quiet time. As it's a pretty small mountain, you can experience from the snow cold to the mild temperature at the bottom of the mountain in one day and the journey going up and down never bore you with the views.
"Serra da Estrela"
mountain range

Serra da Estrella is the highest mountain range in Continental Portugal with the highest point of 1,993m above sea level. It has the only one ski resort in Portugal at the summit and many people (mostly Portuguese people) go there for snow.  This mountain has a lot to offer and it ranks among the Portugal's outstanding scenic attractions.

The summit is called Torre and it has unusual feature of being a summit accessible by paved road. The ski resort is only a couple of hundred meters away from there and it becomes busy around X'mas time. They say you have to choose carefully when to make your journey going up because the only road leading to the ski resort gets closed when it snows heavily.
This beautirful autumn colours were seen in November. I was amazed and speechless going through the forest looking at the stunning scenery.
It's a small ski resort but has a beginners, medium and even professional runs. There are three lifts too! If you live in this country, it would be a perfect weekend trip to enjoy snow  :)

People come  here to enjoy many different attractions, such as paragliding, kayaking, rock-climbing, mountain biking, camping and hiking. The Volta a Portugal, the anual cycling race, holds a finale of one of the sections at the summit.
