The peak of the Monsanto lies at 758m above the sea level and some remains of the midievel castle can be seen. Unfortunately, the catstle was destroyed in the 19th century by an explosion in the ammunition depot of the castle. Some evidences show that people were living here in the early stone age at the time of ice-ages. And of course, it was occupied by Romans and Arabs too.
